Support for schools is investment in future

We need each other. That simple statement is the essential part of a community.

A community lives and even thrives because the people who live, work, and learn within its boundaries are not only important, but are necessary to each other.

In a world where the need for assistance is looked upon as a sign of weakness, the community becomes an oasis where we can dream, hope, and work together for goals that seem impossibly large behind the walls of our individual houses.

Anchored firmly in the center of this haven, live our schools. They are the heart of our local neighborhoods and communities. Within its walls our children learn, grow, and build new friendships. On its playgrounds and sidewalks outside its doors, parents share wisdom, stories, and create a network of support.

Our schools show us what happens when people put "we" ahead of "me." Schools and the children they educate are a down payment on future growth and development.

By investing in the future this November, we can help to ensure a better tomorrow for all the students in District 15. More importantly, though, we can show our children what it truly means to be a community of people.

This investment cannot be built by individuals. It will take a measure of sacrifice in us all. It will take the effort of our entire community, the community in which I live. The one that recognizes and trusts in the strengths that lie in the overlap of our lives. The one that sees this sacrifice, not as a surrender of dollars, but as an investment in the future and well-being of the District 15 community that we all share.

This is why I will be voting "yes" for District 15's referendum, and I hope you will do the same.
