Mundelein High School earns three awards for publications

Three of Mundelein High School's publications have earned awards from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association. The awards were presented to Dr. Kevin Myers, MHS superintendent, at a luncheon held Sept. 16 in Oakbrook.

The Messenger, the District 120 magazine, earned an Award of Excellence. The magazine is sent to all residents of District 120 and includes highlights about the students, staff and happenings at the high school.

A judge's comment about the publication was "Good story selection of things community members would like to read: alumni profiles, building updates, etc. It's clearly distinguished from student-centered and parent-centered news."

An Award of Excellence also went to the District's 16-page marketing magazine. This magazine is used for students and parents at Freshman Orientation and also for realtors and families new to the Mundelein area.

The judge comment was "All of the content is interesting and relevant and makes Mundelein High School District 120 very appealing. Creative layout and design; great photos."

An Award of Merit was presented for the 2016 Graduation program.

"Easy to read. Nice to be able to highlight all of the graduates and staff," was one of the judge's comments.

Ron Girard is the editor of all three publications.
