Incumbent again builds campaign on distortion

It's starting again. Untruthful, patronizing pieces are arriving in our mailboxes from insolent politicians.

Two years ago, state Rep. Carol Sente, relying on the voters' credulity, twisted her opponent's positions to secure re-election. She deceitfully proclaimed that her challenger favored Illinois' schools hiring of pedophiles.

Now, grasping at straws to conceal her dismal record, she's again making stuff up to smear her new Republican opponent. In a recent mailer, the frenzied accusations Sente directed at contender Dawn Abernathy are patently absurd and intentionally deceptive.

Equating Dawn's principled support of our constitutional rights and armed defense of our families with neglecting the safety of our children is an insult to all but the most obtuse voter.

The mailer claimed "she (Dawn) would oppose background checks to ensure mentally ill individuals cannot buy guns." Can a seven-year legislator really have no knowledge of the stringent FOID card background check for mental illness history?

No, it's all a ruse to hide Sente's deference to the rotten status quo in Illinois: tax, spend, and when it's not enough to continue the waste and corruption, tax some more.

Of course Sente does not make up lies on her own. It's at the behest of, and paid for in full by "'til death do us part" House Speaker Michael Madigan. It's a quid pro quo; Carol Sente remains enthralled to Madigan, and at his beck and call. A vote for Dawn Abernathy is a vote to restore to Illinois good government, individual freedoms, and unimpeded prosperity.

Dawn is independent of the bipartisan "combine." She'll work to return Illinois to the American promise of growth, industry, and opportunity - a promise the powers-that-be have squandered for malfeasance, self-enrichment and retention of power.
