Elgin Symphony League welcomes ESO Principal Bassoon Andrew Pattison

The first meeting of the 2016-17 concert season hosted by the Elgin Symphony League will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave., Elgin. It will begin with a luncheon followed by a presentation by guest speaker Andrew Pattison, principal bassoon with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

Pattison received his bachelor's degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a master's degree from DePaul School of Music and a Performer's Certificate from Colburn Conservatory of Music. He joined the bassoon faculty at DePaul in 2014 where he teaches courses in applied bassoon, woodwind pedagogy and chamber music.

He has performed often with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and in many of the Chicago area's orchestral and chamber ensembles. In the fall of 2015, Pattison also joined the Lake Forest Symphony as principal bassoon. Former appointments include The Houston Grand Opera and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Mr. Pattison has also performed for Music Festivals in Sarasota Florida, Round Top, Texas, Santa Barbara, California and Waterville, New Hampshire.

The luncheon cost is $15. Anyone who is a prospective member will be a guest at her/his first meeting. Reservations can be made by calling Jeanne Hebeison at (847) 741-6264.

Established in 1971 to support the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Elgin Symphony League has become a prominent ambassador to our community with members contributing thousands of hours of time and talent to promote and support this award-winning orchestra. Membership is open to anyone who loves music.
