Rosemont mayor moves political office to village hall

Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens already has one office in village hall, but now he's getting a second one to do political work.

Stephens, who also is committeeman of the Leyden Township Regular Republican Organization, is selling his political office at 14 Conti Parkway in downtown Elmwood Park, and plans to relocate it to the village-owned office building at 9501 W. Devon Ave.

That's where Stephens has had his second-floor office since becoming mayor in 2007, and where most village departments, including public safety, finance and human resources, are located.

Rosemont rents out much of the office space to private businesses, including the recently opened Gino's East restaurant on the first floor. The building is also home to Bomark Cleaning, the janitorial services company run by the mayor's brother Mark.

Brad Stephens will share his political office with Rosemont Trustee Jack Dorgan, a lobbyist and one-time state GOP party chairman. Stephens has announced he is seeking re-election in the April local election.

Under state law, Stephens and Dorgan were required to file disclosure statements with the village clerk that they plan to rent office space from the village in which they serve as elected officials.

"We're paying market rent," Stephens said at this week's village board meeting. "We're not getting any kind of discount."
