Lake Zurich's Rock the Block set for Saturday
The village of Lake Zurich will host its fourth annual downtown block party, Rock The Block, on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The event, which runs from 5 to 11 p.m., is planned as an all-ages traditional street dance on Main Street in downtown Lake Zurich. To accommodate the event, Main Street will be closed from Church Street to Old Rand beginning at 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
Three bands take the stage for an evening of music, food and fun, and young partygoers can visit the face painter and balloon art.
Music: For the night's musical entertainment, a covered stage will be erected at Old Rand Road and Main Street.
Bands this year are:
• Rockstar Rodeo is more than just your average country band, and a lot more than just your ordinary rock show.
• Hello Weekend takes audiences to a whole new level. Not only with their incomparable style and sound, but also by performing today's biggest chart topping hits.
• 7th heaven is an experience you just have to see and hear. 7th heaven has charted No. 1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times in the past three years. The band has been heard on more than seven radio stations in Chicago with their hits "Stoplight," "Better This Way" and "Sing." Also known for the famous "30 Songs in 30 Minutes" medley of songs from the '70s and '80s.
Food: A variety of food items will be for sale from area food truck vendors, and local eateries on Main Street will also be opening their doors that evening. Beer, wine and Mike's Hard Lemonade products will be sold, as well as water and other nonalcoholic beverages.
Beverages: This year's beer truck staff is a collaboration between the Rotary, and Lions clubs. No outside alcohol is allowed, and those wishing to consume alcohol will need to have their I.D. checked and purchase a wristband for $1. Beer tickets are available for purchase at $4 for standard brands and $6 for craft IPA. All other alcoholic beverages cost $6. Individual food vendors will sell water and soda.
No outside food, beverages or coolers will be allowed into the event.
