Oakton's art museum to host talk by Evanston artist

Joanna Pinsky, Evanston artist, will visit Oakton Community College's Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines, at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, to discuss her current exhibition of art inspired by her trips to Cuba.

The talk is free and open to the public, as is the exhibition, "Joanna Pinsky: Cuba ~ See," showcasing paintings inspired by the 14 trips Pinsky made to the island since 2000. The exhibit closes Friday, Sept. 16.

"Joanna is well known throughout the United States and internationally and her work is featured in numerous museums, corporations, and private collections," said Nathan Harapz, manager and curator of the museum. "She'll discuss how the vivid colors, music in the streets, and energy for change in Cuba has inspired her art and this exhibition."

The Koehnline Museum is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call (847) 635-2633, or visit www.oakton.edu/museum.
