Elgin police searching for armed robber

Authorities are searching for a man who robbed an Elgin business Sunday.

The robbery occurred at 4:43 p.m. at a business on the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard, according to a news release from Elgin police.

Witnesses, a store manager and a cashier told authorities the robber showed a silver handgun before stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fleeing, police said. The store's video surveillance system also captured footage of the robbery.

The robber is described as a Hispanic man with long, black hair and a beard/goatee, police said. The Elgin Police Department's Major Investigations Division is investigating.
