Jazz trade Pleiss to 76ers for Marshall, waive Marshall

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Jazz have traded center Tibor Pleiss to the Philadelphia 76ers for guard Kendall Marshall in a cost-cutting move. The Jazz announced the deal Friday morning and then waived Marshall.

Two second-round picks were also sent to the 76ers.

Marshall was the No. 13 overall pick in the 2012 draft, but spent four seasons with four teams. His 2016-17 salary of just over $2 million would have become fully guaranteed on Sept. 1, according to Spotrac.com.

Pleiss became expendable after the Jazz traded for Boris Diaw in July and signed 2016 second-round pick Joel Bolomboy this week. The 7-foot-3, 256-pound center was the No. 31 pick in the 2010 draft and played 12 NBA games as a rookie last season.
