Girls swimming: Record showing from Hersey, Warren in pool's debut

Prospect's natatorium yielded a full complement of pool records on Tuesday, as the Warren and Hersey girls swimming and diving teams competed in the first high school meet held at the facility.

The pool will serve as Hersey's home as well as Prospect's this fall, and for the boys swim teams in the winter and all the water polo teams in the spring.

And it was a winning debut for Warren, which claimed a 104.5-81.5 victory over the Huskies at the varsity level. Warren won JV 99-85.

The visiting Blue Devils had a double individual winner in senior Courtney Barker, who claimed both the 50-yard freestyle (24.62) and the 100 free (54.05). She also anchored the winning medley relay (1:54.19) and led off the winning 200 free relay (1:42.47).

Hersey's record-setters included junior Olivia Kusio, tops in the 200 IM (2:16.54) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.61). Kusio also anchored the winning 400 free relay (3:51.22), following Claire Fink, Jenny Lutz and Abby Johnstone.

Warren's Alyssa Church won the 200 free in 2:03.71 and the Blue Devils also had victories from Maia Russell in the 500 free (5:36.53) and sophomore Carissa Barker in the 100 back (1:04.59).
