Lightning sparks small fire outside Lombard home
No one was injured when a lightning strike sparked a small fire and a gas leak at a Lombard home, authorities said Friday.
Lombard firefighters responded at 6:01 a.m. Thursday to a report of a fire on the 300 block of North Lombard Avenue. When they reached the scene the small fire outside the house already had been extinguished by a police officer.
Firefighters remained on the scene to secure the site.
The lightning strike also caused a leak in a gas supply line to the house, which was secured by NICOR crews.
Damage to the house was estimated at $2,000.
