Roundhouse re-opens in Aurora

It might just be a new era for the historic train Roundhouse in Aurora.

After a couple months of renovation, the Roundhouse’s restaurant reopened Friday afternoon under new ownership.

Two Brothers Brewing Company bought the building from previous owner Scott Ascher in early May and then began renovating some parts of the 70,000-square-foot complex to prepare for the reopening.

Ascher owed back taxes to the city of Aurora and had been involved in some legal battles over the 15 years he operated the Roundhouse’s restaurant, banquet hall and entertainment center.

But Aurora officials, including Mayor Tom Weisner, have said they are satisfied with Two Brothers taking ownership of the facility.

Two Brothers co-owner Jason Ebel said his company plans to continue renovating the building and its parking lot over time, opening the music venue and other sections of the Roundhouse later on.
