A baby found dead in an unincorporated area near Wheaton yesterday may have been abandoned there Sunday evening, neighbors say. DuPage County officials confirmed they are investigating the death of an infant discovered off Plamondon Road in an unincorporated area northwest of Danada. Full story.

Emails not relevant in criminal case against Aurora alderwoman

Attorneys for an Aurora alderwoman accused of shoplifting from Meijer say they suspect city officials were behind the decision to upgrade the original misdemeanor charges to a felony to try to force her from office. But they may never know, because DuPage Judge Daniel Guerin yesterday quashed three subpoenas seeking copies of all communications between any Aurora employees, including Mayor Tom Weisner and City Attorney Alayne Weingartz, and Aurora police regarding the 10th Ward alderwoman's case. Rolling Meadows grad Garoppolo ready for NFL's brightest spotlight

Naperville student offers healthy lessons for phone-toting teens

Cooking for herself on and off since she was 5, 16-year-old Mariel Thompson of Naperville has learned healthy eating lessons the hands-on way. Maybe Mariel's way of learning about food was the hard way, so she's trying to share her knowledge with a younger set of kids through a workshop she's offering Friday at the Alive Center at 505 W. 5th Ave. in Naperville called Media-Smart Youth.
