Flash flood watch in effect until midnight

The National weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the Chicago area from 10 a.m. until midnight.

The flash flood watch includes portions of Cook, DuPage, Lake and Will counties, meteorologists from the National Weather Service said on their website.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop this morning and run through the evening, meteorologists said. The thunderstorms will be capable of producing torrential rainfall rates of two inches or more per hour.

The heavy amounts of rain could result in localized flash floods, officials said. People should monitor local forecasts and take action should flooding occur.
