Fox & Hound, Champps file bankruptcy

The owner of sports bar chains Fox & Hound and Champps filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday, its second such filing in less than three years, according to Nation's Restaurant News.

Dallas-based Last Call Guarantor LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy early Wednesday, citing $10 million to $50 million in assets, and $100 million to $500 million in liabilities, the report said.

Men who identified themselves as managers of the Champps in Lombard and Orland Park both said the bar would remain open during the bankruptcy. They referred calls to the headquarters, but calls to the headquarters did not go through.

The company operates 48 Fox & Hound locations and 23 Champps units, including in Aurora, Arlington Heights and Schaumburg. The company has restaurants in 25 states. That's many fewer than the 101 total units the company oversaw when it filed for bankruptcy in 2013. At the time, the company had $119 million in debt.

The New York-based private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management acquired the chain in a bankruptcy deal early in 2014, the report said.
