Salt Creek Rural Park District to celebrate 60th anniversary Friday

Salt Creek Rural Park District will celebrate its 60th anniversary Friday evening at Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Palatine.

The celebration is set to kick off with the annual Turtle Trek Race at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music from rock 'n' roll blues band "Forget Hannah."

A dessert reception will also be available, and the park district will have memorabilia from the past six decades on display.

Salt Creek Park District was founded in 1956, and serves residents in areas of Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows and Palatine. Everyone, regardless of park district boundaries, is invited to help the park district celebrate Friday.

"We're a very friendly park district, and that's why we wanted to celebrate with everyone," Director of Parks and Recreation Diane Hilgers said. "We want the public to know how much we appreciate them using our park district."
