Metra expanding service for Lollapalooza

Metra plans to add trains and increase capacity to accommodate crowds attending the upcoming Lollapalooza music festival.

Metra says it's also offering four-day train passes for those bound for the popular annual event. It starts Thursday and runs through Sunday.

Among the big names performing at the downtown Chicago festival this year are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, J. Cole and LCD Soundsystem.

Metra says those who attend Lollapalooza heavily use CTA trains each year. It says more than 25,000 people bought unlimited-ride passes to the event in 2015.

Alcohol and glass containers will be prohibited on trains after 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. And they will banned all day both Saturday and Sunday.
