Buffalo Grove teen seriously injured in McHenry County crash

A 16-year-old Buffalo Grove girl was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition after suffering serious injuries Saturday when her family's SUV collided with a semitrailer truck in northern McHenry County, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred about 12:33 p.m. Saturday on a rural stretch of Keystone Road in unincorporated Richmond Township, McHenry County Sheriff's police said. According to the sheriff's office, the girl's 43-year-old father failed to yield at a stop sign at Keystone and Route 173, and his 2010 Nissan Rogue pulled in front of a westbound truck.

The driver, his 42-year-old wife and their 12-year-old son were treated at the scene and then taken to Centegra Hospital-McHenry with nonlife threatening injuries, authorities said. The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old Delavan, Wisconsin man, was treated and released at the scene, police said.

Sheriff's Lt. James Wagner said the 16-year-old girl remained in critical condition as of Sunday.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Traffic Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the crash. Alcohol is not suspected as playing a role in the crash, sheriff's police said.
