Ogwumike leads Sparks to 95-75 win over Mystics

WASHINGTON (AP) - Nneka Ogwumike had 24 points and 14 rebounds, Candace Parker added 18 points and six assists and the Los Angeles Sparks ended a two-game skid with a 95-75 win over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.

Ogwumike was 6 of 7 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. Rookie Evgeniia Belyakova added a career-high 12 points and Jantel Lavender scored 11 for the Sparks (21-3).

Essence Carson and Belyakova each hit 3s during an 18-4 run that gave Los Angeles a 29-16 lead with 9 minutes left in the first half and the Sparks led by at least eight the rest of the way.

Emma Meesseman scored 16 points and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 10 for the Mystics (9-15), who wore black warm-up shirts with the Washington Mystics logo on them.

Los Angeles, ranked first in the AP WNBA power poll, shot 55.7 percent (34 of 61) from the field, including 8 of 18 from 3-point range.

The ninth-ranked Mystics have lost seven in a row.
