$3.7 million Rosemont garage expansion to add 180 spaces
Rosemont is paying $3.7 million to expand a parking garage next to its village hall and an office building it owns.
The three-level garage will be expanded with 180 more spaces to the south, where a surface parking lot sits. The garage serves patrons of village hall at 9501 W. Devon Ave. and the neighboring Hyatt Rosemont. It also was the garage for the former American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons building at 6300 N. River Road.
The academy moved down the block to a new office building at 9400 W. Higgins Road in late 2014, when the village purchased the seven-story 6300 River building for nearly $4.7 million.
Village officials plan to sell the building by the end of the year, and say the expanded garage will make it more marketable.
