Join Palatine Township This Wednesday for Health and Happiness Fair

On Wednesday, July 20, Palatine Township will host its annual Health and Happiness Fair from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine. This yearly event is meant to make connections between Palatine Township residents and resources located within the Township community.

Among the many offerings are:

-Attendees will have an opportunity to take part in a distracted driving simulator.

-New registrants to Palatine Township Transportation Services, for seniors and the disabled, will receive a free round trip.

-Free screenings for Macular Degeneration and Retinal Neuropathy provided by the Palatine Lions Club.

-Information about mentoring, counseling and crisis services from the Bridge Youth and Family Services.

-Pneumonia shots (free for Medicare Part B patients) and glucose screenings provided by Jewel/Osco.

-Palatine Township Senior Center will provide information about disability services, Medicare counseling.

-Live hearing tests with amplified telephones; appointments are required. Please call 847-884-0300.

-Physical therapists from Northwest Community Hospital will instruct attendees how to stay safe, prevent falls and improve balance.

"Our goal is to provide value to our residents through free screenings and information to help them live a healthier and more fulfilling life," said Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson. "The entire event is free and open to all Township residents."

Other resources, information and offerings will include safety and stress reduction information for senior citizens, as well as Medicaid and other federal services provided through Congressman Peter Roskam's office.

The Palatine 150 Core Committee will also be on hand, distributing information about the sesquicentennial celebrations planned for the remainder of Palatine's 150th birthday year.
