One killed in Elgin motorcycle crash

A 45-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday night in Elgin, authorities said.

Authorities said a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Center Street near Dexter Avenue at 5:52 p.m. when the man lost control and hit a curb then a utility pole.

The man was transported to Presence St. Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained from the crash.

Police are withholding the identity of the man pending notification of next of kin.

The area of Center Street and Dexter Avenue was closed until about 9 p.m. to investigate the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit.
