District 50 has a board vacancy

Woodland Elementary District 50 is seeking candidates to fill a school board vacancy resulting from the July 5 resignation of Kellie Pappas, who has moved outside the district.

The person selected to fill the vacancy is expected to serve from the date of appointment to May 1, 2017. Those seeking appointment should submit a letter of interest. Applicants must have U.S. citizenship, be at least 18 years old, a resident of District 50 and Illinois for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, a registered voter, may not hold an incompatible public office, be a child sex offender or have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district.

Letters of interest should be sent to Phyllis Martin, Recording Secretary for the Board of Education, 1105 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, IL 60031, or to pmartin@dist50.net, and are due by July 22. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The board will consider all submissions and respond to all applicants.
