IDOT: Watch out for crews in work zones on these roads
The July Fourth weekend typically means freedom from construction, but there are a few roads where closures or lane reductions remain in effect this weekend, the Illinois Department of Transportation reminds drivers.
Drivers are reminded to watch out for crews in work zones and adhere to posted 45 mph speed limits.
Here are some local roads and expressways that will be affected by construction during the holiday:
• Narrowed lanes will continue on westbound Golf Road from Rohrseen to Barrington roads in Hoffman Estates.
• Lane reductions remain at the interchange of Lake Shore Drive and the Stevenson Expressway (I-55).
• The left-turn lane at westbound Algonquin Road at Barrington Road in South Barrington remains closed.
• Some westbound lane reductions continue on Lake Street between Ontarioville Road and Greenbrook Boulevard in Hanover Park.
• Lane reductions continue at York and Irving Park roads in Bensenville.
• Construction continues at Route 72 and Big Timber Road in Kane County with lane reductions.
• Work on Route 31 over Ferson Creek in St. Charles continues with narrowed lanes.
• Cuba Road remains closed at Flint Creek in Barrington Hills.
• Grand Avenue at Fairfield Road remains closed in Lake Villa.
• Work continues on Deerfield Road between Routes 43 and 41 in Deerfield and Highland Park.
• County Line Road is closed at the Kishwaukee River in Marengo Township.
• Lane reductions remain at Route 31 and the Edgewood Ravine in Algonquin.
