Guns can help protect innocent lives

I was quite disgusted with the one-sided view of the Daily Herald's "Our View" and the slant of the four political cartoons on the Orlando shootings.

The reports I heard were that only one "bouncer" or guard was armed. While I do not approve of the patrons' lifestyle and choices who went to this club, I believe in protecting life. About 10 percent of Florida residents can carry concealed arms, so simple math says about 30 people in this club could have had the ability to stop the terrorist if law allowed it.

Another case of a gun-free zone killing people. God and our laws prohibit murder, but we are allowed to defend ourselves or should be wherever we are. Defense of oneself or an inoccent life is the right thing to do, period.

No matter who they are, God commands us to love life. A terrorist for any cause loses that right by crossing that line and devaluing their victims' lives.

In cases like this, the possible taking of one life can save dozens more. It's not about trying to be the hero. It's about love for the soul of the person next to you that's so strong you would stand in harm's way without any body armor to protect yourself, God's love.
