Music and more part of 12th annual BeachFest

The 12th annual BeachFest kicked off Friday in Round Lake Beach to start a weekend of live music, cultural performances, magic and more.

Presented by the village of Round Lake Beach and Cultural and Civic Center Foundation, BeachFest 2016 runs to Sunday, June 26, at the Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way. Festival hours are: 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The festival offers visitors three entertainment stages - a main stage, cultural stage and children's pavilion.

The main stage will feature a total of eight bands, including classic rock band Modern Day Romeos on Saturday at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the main stage will feature Hispanic music from bands, such as Banda El Recuerdo, Anarqula and Los Tremendos Alegres.

The cultural stage will feature Irish dancers, belly dancers, entertainer Tony Bernard and rock band Rocket Surgery. On Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., bands from around the area will duel it out in a battle of the bands.

The children's pavilion will feature magic, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations and jokes from a clown.

A carnival and craft and vendor fair will also be open each day for families to enjoy. Attendees can grab a bite to eat from one of the food and beverage vendors. A children's area with a petting zoo will be open Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Admission is free. For details, visit www.villageofroundlakebeach.com.
