Issue is about high-powered weapons

A senator filibustered on gun control. All of the newscasters are making the terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, about only terrorists and guns. Gun control is about more than that.

This is not about people who are or are not on a watch list. It is about why do average citizens need high-powered weapons?

Can anyone give me a reason why high powered weapons ever need to be sold to an average citizen? I can think of no reason other than to use them as they have been used in the past, in the present and will be in the future - namely to cause harm to innocent people for no reason except their own sicknesses.

The answer to gun control seems so simple to me. A: You want to own a hunting rifle, you have to undergo a total vetting process before you can purchase one.

B: You want to own a simple handgun to protect yourself, you have to undergo a total vetting process before you can purchase one.

C: Only owners of licensed gun shops should be able to sell hunting guns and hand guns. No gun shop should be allowed to sell rapid-firing weapons that have potential to produce mass murders.

D: Any vendors wanting to sell at gun shows, etc., have to be licensed the same way as owners of gun shops - and also cannot sell high-powered weapons.

No one wants to take rifles from hunters or to keep guns from people to use as protection. It is not about that. It is about trying to lessen how many innocent people die from sick people and from terrorists. Granted - people still might get these type of weapons - but maybe not as many of them will succeed in doing so.
