Des Plaines boy hospitalized after six-story fall

A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday after falling from a sixth-floor window of a Des Plaines condo building.

According to Des Plaines police, officers were called about 1:48 p.m. to the Landmark condominium building, 711 S. River Road, on a report that a 5-year old boy had fallen from the window onto a mulched area at the rear of the building. The boy lives in the building with his parents, and the window was in their unit, according to a police news release.

The boy was conscious and breathing when police and firefighters arrived, and he was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. Further information was not available from police and a hospital spokesperson was not immediately available Saturday evening to discuss the boy's condition.

Des Plaines police are investigating the circumstances of the fall.
