Buffalo Grove Fred Astaire Dance Studio to 'Dance for a Good Paws'

Approximately 3.9 million companion canines nationwide will enter a shelter this year. Many will never again find a family to live with due to shelter overpopulation, a scarcity of adoptive homes and lack of funding.

That's why Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Buffalo Grove has joined forces with Wagging Hearts for the inaugural "Dance for a Good Paws" fundraiser from 8-9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at 404 W. Half Day Road, in Buffalo Grove. The event will feature professional and amateur performances, raffle drawings for private dance lessons, food, drink and fun.

Admission is $20 and all proceeds will benefit Wagging Hearts and its mission to rescue abandoned, neglected, and stray companion animals.

"We're very excited to be able to dance for such a great cause," dance Director Ria DeSoto said. "Our dogs provide us with so much love and companionship. It's great that we can show them some as well."

Wagging Hearts is a foster-based, nonprofit rescue organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected and stray companion animals. They are an all-volunteer animal rescue organization that believes all lives are worth saving and vows to provide its animals with the care that they need. As a true no-kill organization, Wagging Hearts provides care for its animals until they find their forever homes.
