Aurora man sentenced to 20 years for sex assault
A 38-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting and abusing a girl younger than 12 over four years, according to prosecutors and Kane County court records.
Judge D.J. Tegeler imposed the sentence Friday on Armando Romero-Gutierrez, of the 100 block of South LaSalle Street, after a jury convicted him in early March of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, and 16 counts of felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, records show.
According to prosecutors, Romero-Guiterrez sexually assaulted and abused the girl he knew from June 2010 to June 2014. He was arrested in September 2014 and held at the Kane County jail on $750,000 bail. He gets 632 days credit toward his sentence, records show.
Romero-Gutierrez also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life after his prison term ends.
