Madigan plays race card in map debate

The Independent Map Amendment would take congressional redistricting decisions out of the hands of scheming Illinois pols and vest it in a politically independent body. Sounds good, doesn't it? High-minded and virtuous.

It seemed that way to me. So, I spent a couple of days walking around the neighborhood knocking on doors asking people to sign a pro-IMA petition, enduring looks and greetings reserved for Watchtower people and door-to-door guys who tell you that your roof has storm damage. In the end, though, about eight out of ten approached signed the petition.

However, I've since learned the dark side of IMA.

It will hurt minorities! Like Paul Revere's shouts about invading redcoats, Mike Madigan's anti-Democracy Democrats are bellowing warnings against majority rule. The message is straightforward: ordinary citizens are too stupid and selfish to be fair-minded. The people should leave such feats of civic virtue to braniacs like Madigan & Co., the same crew, long drunk on a cocktail of greed and stupidity, which has led the state to fiscal ruin.

Of course, maybe their contempt for us is deserved. We continue to reelect them and provide Boss Mike with super majorities. Maybe, in a Marxist (Groucho) perspective, they feel they can't trust anyone stupid enough to vote for them.

The Madigan Democrats do not want the people (Illinois voters) to have an IMA option on the November ballot. They greatly fear a less corrupt process for determining congressional districts. So desperate are they, that they've immediately "gone nuclear" with their racism-tinged "hurt minorities" screed. "Hurt minorities" is the race-card, aimed at blowing the wheels off the IMA bandwagon.

As cornered skunks do, the Madiganocrats spew a nauseating vapor when threatened. We know these polecats by their stench. We also know them by their contempt for those whom they serve.
