Softball: St. Charles East dumps Kaneland

Delaney Devor threw a 4-hitter with 2 strikeouts and no walks and added 2 hits with a double as St. Charles East defeated Kaneland 5-0 in nonconference softball action on Saturday.

Katie Rinker added 2 hits and an RBI for the Saints (26-4-1) while Katie Kolb and Rylee Stout (RBI) each had doubles.

Courtney Davis suffered the loss for Kaneland (16-14).

Elk Grove 5, South Elgin 4: Mariah Spivey and Alexa Rogalla (2 RBI) each had home runs for South Elgin (14-16) in this nonconference game. Alissa Hargett added 2 hits for the Storm and Paige Salamone took the loss in the circle despite allowing just 2 earned runs on 5 hits.

Huntley falls twice: The Red Raiders suffered a nonconference doubleheader loss to Lockport, falling 13-11 and 14-4. In Game 1, Jessica Shields had 3 hits with a double and an RBI for Huntley while Caitlin Brown added 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Cailyn Pienschue had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Autumn Kasal added 2 hits with a double and an RBI. Hayley O'Mara had 3 hits with a double and an RBI for the Raiders (19-7) in the nightcap while Shields added 2 hits and Jenna Lawler had a double., Tiffany Giese took the loss in Game 1 and Kateri Conklin in Game 2.

BC loses 2: At the ICCP tournament, Burlington Central fell to the host Knights 18-14 and then to Morrison 5-1. Against IC Catholic, Kristina Ahlers had 4 hits with a triple and a home run for the Rockets while Kelly Wiater had 3 hits and 3 RBI and Gretchen Schrubbe 2 hits with a home run and 4 RBI. In the loss to Morrison, Wiater had 3 hits with a triple for the Rockets (20-8). Ashley Ratliff took the loss in Game 1 and Emily Kisch in Game 2.

Streamwood sweeps Westminster: Rebecca Daley scattered 7 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks and added 2 hits of her own to lead the Sabres to a 10-3 win in Game 1 of this nonconference DH. Also providing offense for Streamwood were Taylyr Crocilla (3 hits), Jessica Daley (3 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), Becky Roncone (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Nijal Desai (2 hits) and Laura Dietich (2B). For Westminster, Sophia Hopkins had 2 RBI, Sarah Schmitt 3 hits and Grace Schmitt a double. In Game 2, which Streamwood (11-16) won 14-8, Crocilla (2 hits), Rebecca Daley (2 hits, RBI), Jessica Daley (2 doubles, 3 RBI), Desai (2 RBI) and Dietrich (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) led the way for the Sabres. Ariana Wolfard was the winning pitcher. Sarah Schmitt (2 hits, RBI), Becca Fugiel (2 hits, 3B), Drew Randazzo (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Taryn Boltz (3 hits, RBI), Kaylee Johnson (2 hits) and Dana Rio (2B, 2 RBI) led the Warriors (8-14).
