Fight gun crime with more mental institutions

A few weeks ago, in a Daily Herald article about Cook County's overcrowded prison, Sheriff Tom Dart estimated that three quarters of the inmates have a mental problem. Now, if we are able to reduce the number of people in these prisons, we could improve the living conditions. The people with mental problems should be sent to mental institutions where they belong so they can be helped. This is where the prevention of mass shootings should begin. Not in a gun shop. How about it, Mr. Obama? Can we increase the number of mental institutions in our country to save some innocent lives? Dangerous ones should be isolated from society.
