Prospect Heights teen pleads guilty to DUI in 2015 rollover crash
A 19-year-old from Prospect Heights pleaded guilty Thursday to causing a DUI-related crash last October that seriously injured him and his 15-year-old female passenger.
In exchange for his guilty plea to aggravated DUI causing bodily harm, Nikola Radanovic, of the 200 block of Black Olive Ave., was sentenced to 30 months probation, with the first year on intensive probation, court records show. Intensive probation requires him to obey a curfew and abstain from drugs or alcohol. In addition, Radanovic must complete 45 days of the Cook County Sheriff's Work Alternative Program and pay a $2,249 fine.
Prosecutors said Radanovic was driving more than 70 miles per hour and attempting to flee from police when the car rolled over and crashed on Oct. 17 near Willow Road in Prospect Heights.
Both passengers, who suffered multiple broken bones, had to be cut from the vehicle. The shattered speedometer registered more than 100 miles per hour.
Radanovic's blood test indicated a blood alcohol content between .84 and .124, prosecutors said.
