Man arranges meeting with woman, robbed at gunpoint

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - A man was robbed at gunpoint after he agreed to meet a woman with whom he chatted online.

The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/1WR1vy8 ) the man told police he went to a house Friday night thinking he was going to meet a woman who called herself Mercedes.

He had met the person on a dating website and arranged to meet her at the address about 9 p.m.

No one answered the door when the man arrived. As he turned around, two men confronted him with a semiautomatic handgun and forced him to the ground.

They took his wallet and cellphone and fled on foot.
