Des Plaines' Apache Park to be rededicated Saturday

A grand reopening ceremony for a south side Des Plaines park is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.

Park district and city officials will rededicate Apache Park, 2100 Pine St., where some $400,000 of upgrades have been made, including a walking/jogging path, picnic shelter, youth soccer field, community garden and more lighting. Residents also designed and painted peace polls that are in the park.

The city and park district split the cost of the park renovations. A $251,000 state grant suspended more than a year ago was intended to pay for a splash pad, but officials said that feature could be added in the future.
