Police: Elgin robbery suspect found floating in Fox River

An Elgin man was to appear in bond court Wednesday after being charged with robbery Tuesday.

Joseph C. Figliola, 28, of the 500 block of Raymond Street, was taken into custody by officers after robbing the J.J. Peppers store at 10 S. State St. at 4:32 p.m., police said in a news release.

Officers were called to the store shortly after the robbery, and a description of the suspect was provided by witnesses and video surveillance cameras.

A person matching the description of the suspect was seen floating in the nearby Fox River and he was taken into custody.

Detectives from Elgin's Major Investigations Division continue their investigation.
