Wheeling OKs plan to split crossing guard costs with Dist. 21

Wheeling village trustees Monday approved an agreement to split the cost of crossing guards at five village intersections with Wheeling Township Elementary District 21.

The agreement calls for the village and school district to outsource the crossing guard services, which Wheeling previously provided for free.

District 21 will reimburse Wheeling for half the cost of the crossing guards, or an estimated $35,000, annually.

District 21 board members approved the intergovernmental agreement April 21.

Both sides are still working to draw up an official contract.
