Twins games at Target Field to be staffed by local workers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Target Field will be staffed by local workers starting this weekend instead of people being brought in from out of state for Minnesota Twins games.

Delaware North Sportservice, which operates concessions at the ballpark in Minneapolis, said Friday that recent job fairs had garnered 160 new employees, going beyond a goal of bringing on an added 150 workers. The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1QGwvd6 ) reports there are another 500 candidates who applied and are in the screening process.

A news release says the "new wave of employees eliminates any future need to bus in out-of-state workers." Pete Spike, a general manager for Delaware North, previously said the company couldn't find enough part-time employees in the Twin Cities.

The new employees are expected to be at work this weekend for the Twins' series against the Detroit Tigers.
