Lilac Time begins in Lombard with crowning of Lilac Queen

Lilac Time officially has begun in Lombard with the crowning of Hadley Hill as the new Lilac Queen.

The queen was crowned during a coronation ceremony in Lilacia Park, a tradition that dates back more than 70 years. At the same time, the Lombard Lilac Parade Committee launched a new wine walk fundraiser that involved about a dozen downtown businesses sampling wines and beers.

Upcoming events include an art and craft fair Sunday, a lilac bus and plant sale, a kids day in Lilacia Park and the Lilac Mutt Strut 5K.

Lilac Time events run through the Lilac Parade on Sunday, May 15, which kicks off at 1:30 p.m. from the corner of Main Street and Wilson Avenue.
