Baseball: Stork pitches Elgin past Streamwood

Brandon Stork threw a 2-hitter with 9 strikeouts, drove in a run and scored two Thursday as Elgin defeated Streamwood 4-0 in an Upstate Eight River baseball game.

Matt Turner had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for the Maroons (5-15, 4-4).

Jr Alvarez and Tim Crom had the only hits for the Sabres (4-12, 1-7). Alvarez took the loss on the mound, allowing just 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.

St. Charles East 10, Larkin 4: John Carroll (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Joe Sciarrino (2 hits) and Kyle Tiltges (HR) led the Saints' offense in this UEC River win. Austin Gift (2B, RBI) and Monty Carbonell (3B) also pitched in for St. Charles East (13-6, 5-3) while Steve Podany (5 IP, 6 hits, 8 Ks, 0 BB) picked up the win on the mound. Keonne Mebane had a double for Larkin (2-15, 0-10) and Andy Bonnot added 3 hits.

CL South sweeps Jacobs: Tyler Carlson outdueled Brad Demkovich as Crystal Lake South completed a sweep of Jacobs, winning 1-0 after finishing off a 9-5 victory in the completion of a suspended game. Carlson allowed just 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks and Griffin Bright scored the game's only run in the first inning on a Jacobs error. Demkovich allowed only 1 hit, to Cam Geisser, and struck out 5 while walking 2 for the Golden Eagles. In the 9-5 win, the Gators (15-3, 6-3 Fox Valley Conference) got a home run from Geisser and 2 hits from Bright. Luke Dunham was the winning pitcher. Stevie Krueger (RBI) and Nate Meland had 2 hits each for Jacobs (13-7, 5-4) and Justin Lavrisa suffered the loss on the mound.

Cary-Grove 11, Dundee-Crown 0: The Trojans (14-7, 8-2) handed D-C its first FVC loss behind a 2-hitter from Daniel Schmidt, who struck out 7 and walked 2. Matt McCumber (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), Quinn Celske (3 hits, RBI) and Dallas McDonough (2 hits, RBI) led the C-G offense. Danny Denz suffered the loss on the mound for the Chargers (12-6, 7-1).

Hampshire 10, Woodstock 8: Kyle Homa had 3 hits while Noah Schrader (RBI) and Carter Lawler added 2 hits each for the Whip-Purs (11-11, 5-6) in their FVC win. Christian Puente was the winning pitcher.

Westminster Christian 6, Harvest Christian 5: In a Northeastern Athletic Conference game at Judson University, Mason Runkel was 4-for-4 including 3 doubles and an RBI for Westminster (10-13, 9-0). Matthew Schulenburg and Justin Rasmussen added 2 hits each for the Warriors. Nic Angiulo was the winning pitcher, allowing 7 hits with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in 6⅓ innings. Tyler Schoemann picked up the save. Brock Wilken had 3 hits with a triple and Drew Lewis added 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Harvest (12-10, 5-5). Chad Jakel was the losing pitcher.

Chicago Christian 14, St. Edward 0: Joe Esposito had a double for the Green Wave (4-17, 1-12) in this Metro Suburban loss.
