Suarez and Barcelona lead AP Global Football 10

LONDON (AP) - Eight goals in two games for Barcelona sent Luis Suarez straight to the top of the Associated Press Global Football 10 on Tuesday.

The Uruguay striker scored four in Barcelona's rout of Deportivo La Coruna last Wednesday and followed up with four more in a 6-0 thrashing of Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

"Can someone like Luis Suarez just score whenever he wants? Two four-goal games in one week is quite a feat," Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post Dispatch in the United States said.

"To have a season's worth of goals for most players in the span of a few days is more than just amazing."

Gareth Bale had to settle for the runner-up slot after his double in Real Madrid's 3-2 win against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish league at the weekend.

Leonardo Ulloa takes third for scoring twice as Premier League leader Leicester beat Swansea 4-0 on Sunday. Ulloa replaced regular striker Jamie Vardy in Leicester's starting line-up, with the England international missing through suspension.

Arturo Vidal polls fourth after guiding Bayern Munich to a 2-0 win at Hertha Berlin by scoring the opening goal. It leaves Bayern just one more victory away from retaining the Bundesliga title.

Lionel Messi is fifth for scoring twice in Barcelona's two wins.

Gianluigi Buffon, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paulo Dybala, Anthony Martial and Riyad Mahrez round out the top 10 players of the week.

Barcelona returns to the top of the team vote after its two Suarez-inspired victories kept it top of the Spanish league, ahead of Atletico Madrid on goal difference.

Leicester is second after its commanding win over Swansea left it needing only one more win to be certain of securing the Premier League title.

Real Madrid took third for its two straight wins, edging Juventus, which won the Serie A title for the fifth straight year.

"Juventus won its fifth Italian title in a row after an amazing comeback. They had 12 points after the first 10 games and nobody thought they would win it again," Aurelio Capaldi of RAI Sport in Italy said.

Atletico ranks fifth after recording two 1-0 wins in the Spanish league, against Athletic Bilbao and Malaga, to stay level on points with Barcelona in the standings.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Manchester City complete the top 10 teams of the week.
