New climbing wall coming to Des Plaines parks

A 24-foot-high mobile climbing wall will be making the rounds at Des Plaines parks this summer.

The park district board this week approved the $30,500 purchase of the wall, which will be used in summer camps and physical education programs at various parks, according to Don Miletic, the park district's executive director.

"We're trying to get more kids active," he said.

The district is paying for the wall through a $45,250 grant from Rivers Casino.
