Taxpayers should protest District 15 deal

This morning my wife and I read about the new negotiated 10-year contract for the District 15 teachers. Accordingly, we sent the following letter to Gov. Rauner's office:

"Governor Rauner, we would appreciate it if the Illinois State Board of Education would review the recent 10 year teachers contract in District 15. This agreement was negotiated by the District 15 Personnel Chief, who until last year was the President of the teachers union.

"This is classic insider dealing. The teachers union negotiates with the former head of the teachers union. Therefore, no one is representing the interests of the taxpayers.

"The contract is egregious, because it is an unprecedented 10 years in length, and has 4 percent pay raises per year in its last 4 years. The taxpayers in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago are already paying outrageous property taxes, and this agreement will only raise them.

"Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter."

I urge all taxpayers in District 15 to protest vehemently about this contract.
