Baseball: Boeh's homers lift Antioch
Thomas Boeh clubbed 2 home runs to carry Antioch's baseball team to a 6-5 win over Grant in North Suburban Prairie Division action on Wednesday.
Tyler Glassman earned the win, as he held Grant hitless over 2⅓ innings, allowing no earned runs with no walks and 1 strikeout.
Antioch scored four runs in the second, getting an RBI single by John Petty and a three-run home run by Boeh. Ben Gutke had a sacrifice fly for the Sequoits, who improved to 4-1 in the NSC Prairie.
Lakes 9, Round Lake 1: Ben Milewski (1-3) struck out 10 batters and scattered 3 hits in 4 scoreless innings, as the Eagles won in North Suburban Prairie action.
Matt Milewski was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Lakes (7-7, 3-2). Max Swiatek scored 3 runs.
Wauconda 10, Vernon Hills 8: Down 10-4 in the seventh, Vernon Hills made things interesting, as the Cougars scored 4 runs and had the tying run at the plate with one out.
Jake Grobelny pitched 6 innings and got the win, while Connor Olson earned the save. Grobelny also went 3-for-3. Machon and Luke Weller (triple, 3 RBI) were both 2-for-3, Collin Shrader went 2-for-4, and Trevor Sefcik had a single and 2 RBI.
Vernon Hills was led offensively by Kyle Hull (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Joe Rangel (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Tommy Earhart (2-for-3, 2 RBI). Brennan Reback added a double in the losing effort.
Libertyville 10, Stevenson 1: Riley Gowens allowed 1 run over 6 innings, striking out five and walking two, as the Wildcats won in North Suburban Lake play.
Ben Kimpler was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles for Libertyville, which also got 2 RBI apiece from Tim Calamari and Jackson Peterson. Brant Kym and Daniel Marks added a pair of hits each for the Wildcats.
Charlie Ling was 2-for-4 for Stevenson (5-1 NSC Lake).
Lake Zurich 2, Warren 1 (9 inn.): The Bears scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to pull out the North Suburban Lake win.
Austin Wells had a double in the ninth for Lake Zurich. Matt Svanson got a no-decision for Lake Zurich after pitching 8 shutout innings with 9 strikeouts.
Ryan Davila doubled twice for Warren. Both he and Cal Poremba (double) went 2-for-4 for the Blue Devils. who got 8 scoreless innings from starter Sam LaMotte.
Mundelein 11, Zion-Benton 2: Winning-pitcher Reese Dolan threw 4⅓ innings, striking out seven and allowing 3 hits in the North Suburban Lake game.
Jeff Morton (triple), Drew Breitenreiter and Zach Zagula (triple) each had a pair of hits for Mundelein (11-6, 2-2). Dolan, Ryan Antenore, Nick Stricker and Brendan Murphy had doubles.
