Who is the real 'Senator No'?
An article written about Sen. Mitch McConnell and his band of "no never" cohorts seemed to be very one-sided. I am no fan of Sen. McConnell, but what he and his cohorts are doing can't compare to what Sen/ Harry Reed and the Democrats did for six years.
If I am not mistaken, Sen. Reed and his cohorts invoked the nuclear option. This option changed the Senate rules to enable judicial and executive nominees to be confirmed with just 51 votes instead of 60. Sixty votes would require some buy-in by the Republican minority party. By invoking the nuclear option, this took away the minority parties' rights.
I believe that it was Sen. Reed that blocked legislation for six years when President Obama he did not want an up-or-down vote. An up-or-down vote would have made clear to the people how their representative voted. I would call this a form of obstructive action and mean politics that our Founding Fathers could not imagine.
The Republican Senate is not disregarding their constitutional right any more than the Democratic Senate did.
It is time for our representatives to do what is right for the American people and the country rather than for themselves or their party. It is time for uniting the American people not dividing them
It is time for term limits on all local, state and federal offices. We need more input from the people and not from some politician that has been in office for 10, 20 or 30 years. This will benefit all the people and help stop the divide in this great country of ours.
