Crash temporarily delays trains in Des Plaines

A two-car crash near the railroad tracks in downtown Des Plaines stopped train travel in both directions for a short time Monday afternoon, officials said.

One of the vehicles ended up on the tracks, but no trains were involved, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.

Trains were back moving by 3:30 p.m., about a half-hour after the accident, but were facing delays up to 45 minutes.
