Elk Grove Township Creates Employment Support Center for Residents

Elk Grove Township officials opened a new Employment Support Center on March 1, 2016. Among the services offered are assistance with resumes, job searches and interview skills, along with a variety of other resources to assist Township residents in gaining employment.

The goal for the support center is that it become an integral part of the comprehensive offerings through Elk Grove Township, which are meant to empower residents and ultimately help them to help themselves.

"We offer General Assistance to in-need residents who in many cases are grappling with unemployment, but that is a short term solution," said Elk Grove Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney. "The long term goal here is that people become gainfully employed whenever it is possible."

Employment counseling is open to any Township resident who is seeking employment, including those with lower incomes who are unemployed or under-employed, in addition to business professionals who are currently working but looking for new opportunities.

The center is directed by Bog Podgorski of RPP Enterprises, who says when people find purposeful work, lives can change for the better in a number of ways.

"When individuals reconnect with work, they regain self-esteem and new meaning in their lives, which also helps the family unit and the community at-large," Podgorski said.

Computer work stations are available in the center for job searches. Half hour to one-hour appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., or by appointment.

To schedule your appointment call (224) 222-0935 or email JobHelp@ElkGroveTownship.com.

Individuals can also schedule appointments in person at Elk Grove Township, located at 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

Elk Grove Township also offers a Community Resource Board located in the front lobby of their location, which is available to residents during normal business hours. In addition to information on a number of programs and upcoming events, it has a devoted area that lists local job opportunities.

Employers throughout the Chicagoland area are invited to submit job openings by emailing information to LMenich@elkgrovetownship.com.
