Duo breaks down barriers at Grayslake Public Library performance

Children played instruments and sang songs in the Grayslake Public Library on Sunday while being entertained by Fox & Branch with their renditions of bluegrass and folk music.

The Milwaukee-based musicians, Dave Fox and Will Branch, gave a free family concert at the library featuring children's songs, traditional folks songs and their original music.

"We call it family folk music and there is a lot of participation," Fox said after playing the washboard and resonator guitar. "That's our goal, to break down that barrier between performer and audience."

More than 50 people attended the family show as Fox & Branch played songs like "Momma Don't Allow" and "There Ain't No Bugs On Me."

The high-spirited duo perform at libraries across the country, and also have played at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Symphony Space in New York City, Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs, Club Passim in Boston and the Overture Center in Madison.
