Sherman accepting applications for mural designs through May 1

In conjunction with Side Street Studio Arts, Advocate Sherman Hospital's diversity council is accepting design submission for a canvas mural that welcomes and invites patients and their families to our facility and promotes diversity and inclusion.

This call is open to local artists and artist teams in the Fox Valley Area. Applicants may submit multiple submissions to be considered. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, May 1. No late submissions will be accepted.

The design must embrace the hospital's five values: equality, compassion, stewardship, partnership, and excellence. A definition of the values and mission will be provided.

The design must incorporate commonly spoken languages in our patient population which include, English, Spanish, Gujarati, Polish, and Laotian. A translation will be provided.

If selected, the artwork must be on canvas and removable for future transfer. Any changes to approved design during production must be approved by Advocate's diversity council.

The selected applicant will receive up to $800 in supplies and awards. It is an opportunity to showcase your talent and add to your portfolio, with the prominently displayed artwork, artist's name and biography available for guests to view.

The artist will be invited to an unveiling ceremony.

Only completed submission forms will be considered. Include a resume/curriculum vitae of the applicant's experience, including name, mailing address, phone number, email.

If multiple artists are applying as a team, please combine resumes into one document.

The design must be scaled with detailed sketch rendering of the proposed product. And the artist must be willing and able to install artwork to the specificity of Advocate Sherman Hospital.
